Upon completion of their first annual fundraising golf tournament, members of the AMCR golf committee, delivered a check in the amount of $25,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities in Burlington Vermont. The Ronald McDonald House is a “home away from home” for families with sick children. The house provides a comfortable space to sleep, warm meals and amenities for laundry, internet and fully stocked kitchen. Of the Ronald McDonald House’s 300 guests last year, 65% were from upstate New York primarily from St. Lawrence and Franklin counties. Their $10 nightly rate is more than some families can afford during their loved one’s illness.
The balance of the proceeds in the amount of $35,008 was delivered to the SRMT Community Partnership Committee. The St. Regis Mohawk Community Partnership Fund provides financial support to the residents of Akwesasne, whether it be for transportation to and from hospitals or funeral assistance. The partnership also provides financial support to non-profit organizations, athletic associations, individual sports teams, the fire department and cultural groups.
“With the success of this First Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament, AMCR is looking forward to next year’s June 27th event and to continue being a good corporate citizen to the community of Akwesasne and surrounding area”, stated Emily Lauzon, Assistant General Manager.
