FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AKWESASNE, NY - The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort received notice by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center of a potential COVID-19 exposure from a guest that visited the property on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Through the Franklin County Public Health Department and the Tribe’s EOC’s contact tracing process, the Casino has been notified that the guest was on property between the hours of 1:00-4:00pm, played one slot machine and was not in close contact with any other employee or guest.
“The health of our guests, our employees and our community remains paramount during this extremely challenging time. We continue to follow both the Centers for Disease Control and our own Emergency Operations Center’s recommendations. Due to our state-of-the art Clorox 360 machines, our deep cleaning protocols, the socially distanced slot floor reconfiguration and protective measures that are in place, we have been advised that risk for exposure to other guests and employees is low, but we ask that anyone who develops symptoms contact their healthcare provider immediately,” stated the AMCR General Manager, Emily Lauzon. “This individual did not, according to CDC guidelines, come in to close contact with anyone while on property, and the one machine that was used was disinfected after use. We have since learned that the guest is asymptomatic, and wish them well.”
As part of the resort’s COVID-19 Health and Safety Program, the slot machines and dining tables are cleaned throughout the day and after play by our clean team and staff using gloves and disinfectant. The gaming floor and restaurant dining areas are deep cleaned every night which was the reason we elected to limit our hours of operation (9am-1am) to insure that if something like this happened we had protective measures in place to mitigate further exposures. Protective measures are in place for the Casino’s employees and guests, including the requirement of masks being worn at all times (currently a non-smoking facility), temperature checks in place upon entrance, social distancing is enforced and both hand and machine sanitizers are strategically located throughout the property.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort will continue to operate within these strict guidelines, and reminds everyone that the health and safety of the community, employees and visitors is the absolute top priority during these unprecedented times.
